SYNOPSIS:

This Olivier Award-winning dark comedy follows Judy, a modern woman determined to live as the perfect 1950s traditional housewife — complete with vintage dresses, spotless kitchens, and home-baked cakes. But as the cracks in her carefully curated life begin to show, the story explores the tension between nostalgia and reality, identity and expectation.

CHARACTER DETAILS:

JUDY – 30s–40s, vibrant, meticulous, deeply committed to her retro lifestyle. A model ‘1950’s’ Housewife. Married to Johnny. Comfortable with intimacy, smoking and dancing onstage.
JOHNNY – 30s–40s, Judy’s husband, charming but conflicted. A typical ‘1950’s’ Husband. Married to Judy. Comfortable with intimacy and dancing onstage.
FRAN – 30s–50s, Judy’s friend, practical and outspoken. Judy’s friend. Married to Marcus. Comfortable with intimacy onstage.
MARCUS – 30s–50s, Fran’s husband, easygoing with a cheeky side. Johnny’s friend. Married to Fran. Comfortable with intimacy and dancing onstage.
SYLVIA – 50s–70s, Judy’s mother, pragmatic and grounded. Judy’s mother. Second wave feminist. Comfortable with smoking onstage.
