SYNOPSIS:

Pablo, a high-powered lawyer, and doctoral candidate Tania, his very pregnant wife, are realizing the American dream when they purchase a house next door to community stalwarts Virginia and Frank. But a disagreement over a long-standing fence line soon spirals into an all-out war of taste, class, privilege, and entitlement. The hilarious results guarantee no one comes out smelling like a rose. Gardens and cultures clash – turning friendly neighbors into feuding enemies in this hilarious comedy.

CHARACTER DETAILS:

Tania Del Valle - A strong willed and passionate PhD candidate who is pregnant and environmentally conscious. She believes in equity, sustainability, and standing her ground. (Mexican-American, late 20s-early 30s)

Pablo Del Valle - Tania’s husband, a rising attorney from Chile trying to establish himself in a prestigious law firm. Charming, ambitious, and under pressure to succeed, especially as they expect their first child (Chilean-American, late 20s-early 30s)

Virgina Butley - A polished, intelligent engineer with a no-nonsense attitude who works for a large defense contractor in the DC area. Friendly and civil, her opinions are well engrained, and she will fight ruthlessly to protect her turf. (55+)

Frank Butley - Virginia’s retired husband, a gentle suburban gardener with a big heart and a deep emotional attachment to his plants. Tends to avoid confrontation but cares deeply about appearances and legacy. (55+)

The Landscapers, Surveyor, and Building Examiner - A ensemble of 2-4 actors who exude unique personalities as they work. They are the witnesses and the energetic transformers of both the play and the situation. (Any ethnicity, any gender, any age)
